Following up on our earlier post, A Clean Rifle is a Happy Rifle (here), the photo below shows how a dirty chamber can lead to misfires due to incomplete seating of the round. The CCI Minimag shows two weak firing pin strikes, while the Remington milsurp case shows a good strike. This occurred after only about 100 rounds of shooting.
This particular 10/22 has a Ruger 22″ tapered barrel, accurized by Que with a match chamber and 11-degree target crown. It doesn’t like the fat-nosed bullet profile of Minimags, but will shoot CCI Standard Velocity and other match-grade ammo all day long.
